About

RootedHomes is a nonprofit organization based in Bend, Oregon, committed to creating sustainable and affordable homeownership opportunities for Central Oregon’s workforce. Utilizing the Community Land Trust (CLT) model, RootedHomes ensures that homes remain affordable in perpetuity, allowing individuals who have historically been excluded from building wealth through property ownership to achieve homeownership.

Services and Offerings

RootedHomes provides a comprehensive suite of services designed to support prospective homeowners throughout their journey:

• Homeownership Opportunities: RootedHomes develops net-zero energy homes in communities such as Rooted at Simpson in Bend and Rooted at 19th in Redmond. These homes are designed to be energy-efficient, reducing utility costs for homeowners. 
• Workforce Housing Program: In partnership with local employers and organizations, RootedHomes offers housing options tailored for Central Oregon’s workforce, ensuring that essential community members have access to affordable housing. 
• Homebuyer Education: Prospective homeowners are required to attend information sessions and complete homeownership and financial fitness courses through NeighborImpact, equipping them with the knowledge needed for successful homeownership. 
• Financial Assistance Programs: RootedHomes offers down payment assistance through programs like the SHOP Program, which provides $25,000 in exchange for 60 hours of volunteer work per person on title. 
• Community Engagement: RootedHomes fosters community involvement through events such as native plant harvests, encouraging volunteer participation and environmental stewardship.
